We refer to our blueberry bushes as “the Great Aunties.” Mayme and Lafayette Noda and their friends planted them several decades ago. They’ve been fertilized, pruned, mulched, weeded, worried, and exalted over ever since.
Sometimes, pausing in the middle of the field to catch our breath, we feel purely happy. The wind blows through the trees, the chickadees and bluejays call, and we are surrounded by the abundance and generosity of all growing things (including, to our exasperation sometimes, the weeds!).
We hope you’ll be happy to be here too. Please join us this summer for berry picking. Bring friends, children, or family—or simply enjoy the time alone. Alas, our dear friend Takakosan has not been able to make her annual trip to Meriden from Japan. She won’t be here to greet you, but we will, and we look forward to seeing you!
Sincerely, Kesaya and Chris
